Terms of Service

The rules for using Care & Place and its services.

Last updated: October 11, 2026 · Care & Place

Agreement

These terms apply to your use of this website, run by Care & Place (“Care & Place”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you buy a service from us, the order or agreement for that service also applies, and it controls if it conflicts with these terms.

The site is meant for adults. You must be 18 or older to send us a form, write a review or buy a service.

What we provide

  • A free directory of Medicare- and Medicaid-certified nursing homes, with each home’s Medicare (CMS) report, findings, comparisons and plain-English summaries.
  • Optional family navigation: one-on-one help choosing a home. The first 15-minute call is free; anything beyond it is a flat fee quoted before you decide.
  • Optional listing plans for nursing homes, described on our pricing page.

We are an information service. We are not a nursing home, a healthcare provider, a placement agency or a broker, and we do not make admission decisions.

Not affiliated with Medicare or the government

Care & Place is independent. We are not part of, affiliated with or endorsed by Medicare, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or any state agency. We use the public data those agencies publish. Medicare’s star ratings are Medicare’s, not ours, and showing them is not a government endorsement of any home.

Information, not advice

Facility information comes from public CMS data and, where marked, from the facilities themselves. CMS data can be months old, can be incomplete and may contain errors, and a home’s situation can change at any time. We show CMS data as published and explain how we summarize it on our methodology page.

Nothing on this site is medical, legal, financial or insurance advice. The directory itself does not show bed availability, admission decisions, insurance coverage or the care a home can provide. Always confirm these with the home, your doctor and your insurer, check your state’s inspection reports, and visit before deciding. In an emergency, call 911.

How we make money

The directory is free for families. We do not take referral fees, and we do not charge homes per lead, per tour or per admission. Nursing homes can pay for optional listing plans. Paid placement is always labeled “Sponsored”. No home can pay to change its Medicare ratings, inspection results, findings, summaries, reviews or its place in the regular list. Where a home appears is not a recommendation. More on how we make money.

How we contact you

When you send a form and tick the consent box, you agree that Care & Place may contact you about your request by email, phone or text message, including by automated means, at the details you gave, even if your number is on a do-not-call list. Only Care & Place contacts you this way; we do not sell or pass your details to homes or other companies for their own calls. Consent is not a condition of using the site. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts; message and data rates may apply. You can also ask us to stop contacting you through our contact form.

If you use “Request More Info” about a home, your question comes to Care & Place. We pass it to that home only, and only what is needed to answer it.

Facility listings and paid plans

Every certified nursing home has a free listing. Claiming it is free. Paid plans add the home’s own photos and details and labeled promotion, at the prices on our pricing page.

  • Who can manage a listing. A person claiming or managing a listing must be authorized by the facility. We confirm this before a listing is claimed.
  • Monthly plans renew automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel anytime; if you tell us by the 1st of the month, that month is not billed, otherwise it is. Cancelling stops the next renewal; we do not refund months already billed.
  • Annual Premium ($2,400) is a 12-month subscription paid up front. We remind you before it ends, and it does not renew unless you choose to.
  • Price changes apply only after we tell you at least 30 days ahead, and you can cancel before they take effect.
  • What a home adds must be accurate, must be its own or licensed to it, and must not include resident information, health details or misleading claims. We may edit or remove content that breaks these rules.
  • What a plan does not change: Medicare’s data, findings and ratings, family reviews, and the order of the regular list.

Reviews and content you send

Family reviews must describe your own, first-hand experience with the home as a resident, family member or visitor. We check every review against these rules before it is published:

  • Be honest and respectful. No personal attacks, threats, hate speech or profanity.
  • Leave out residents’ names and health details, and staff members’ full names.
  • No reviews from the home’s owners, staff or their families, or from competitors. No reviews written by AI or by anyone who did not have the experience.
  • No reviews in return for payment, discounts or gifts, and no advertising or links.

We publish reviews that follow these rules whether they are positive or negative. We never remove a review because it is negative, and a home’s paid plan does not change which reviews appear. We may decline or remove a review that breaks these rules, or edit it only to remove private details. A home may post one public response to a review. We do not pay for reviews, and we follow the Federal Trade Commission’s rule on consumer reviews.

By sending a review or other content you confirm it is yours and allow us to publish, display and adapt it on the site and in our materials about Care & Place. You can ask us to remove your review through our contact form.

Acceptable use

Please do not misuse the site: no attempts to break or overload it, no automated copying (scraping) of its pages, no submitting false or someone else’s information, no spam through our forms, and no copying the site’s design or written content for another service.

Our content

The site’s design, writing, summaries, guides and how the data is arranged belong to Care & Place and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may read, print and share pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. Public CMS data itself remains free for anyone to use from CMS. Facility photos and details belong to the facilities that provide them.

Other websites

We link to other sites, such as Medicare’s Care Compare, state agencies and nursing homes’ own sites. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

Disclaimer

The site and its information are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Care & Place is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for decisions made based on information on the site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site or our services is limited to the amount you paid us for the service involved in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing.

Your responsibility for what you post

If someone makes a claim against Care & Place because of content you sent us, or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover Care & Place’s reasonable costs of that claim, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent the law allows.

Suspending or ending access

We may suspend or end a listing plan, remove content, or block use of our forms if these terms are broken. A home can end its plan as described above. Sections that by their nature should last, such as our content, the disclaimer, liability and your responsibility for what you post, continue after access ends.

Resolving problems

If something goes wrong, please contact us first through our contact form; most problems can be sorted out quickly. If we can’t resolve it within 30 days, either of us may take it to small claims court or another court with jurisdiction. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Care & Place is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. If a change is significant we note it on this page, and for paid plans we tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
