Accessibility

How we make the site work for everyone, and how to tell us when it doesn’t.

Last updated: October 11, 2026 · Care & Place

Our commitment

Families use this site at stressful moments, often on a phone, sometimes with a screen reader or larger text. We want every page to work for everyone, and we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.

What we do

  • We check pages with automated accessibility tests (axe) when we change them.
  • Pages work with a keyboard, and forms have labels that screen readers announce.
  • Text and buttons meet contrast guidelines, and pages work when text is enlarged.
  • Star ratings and charts also give their numbers in words.
  • Maps are extra: every home on a map is also listed in text.

Known limits

Some content comes from others: the maps, and photos and descriptions that nursing homes add. We ask homes to describe their photos, but we cannot check every one right away.

Tell us about a problem

If something on the site is hard to use, tell us through our contact form with the page and what happened. We aim to reply within one business day and will help you get the information another way while we fix it.
